Fun Things To Do

Contact Us

1. The Initial Consultation

At the first visit, our staff will review the Health History Form with you and your child will be introduced to our orthodontic team. (The Health History Form can be found on The First Visit page.)

Parents are welcome to accompany their child into the treatment area during the initial consultation. This gives you an opportunity to see our staff in action and allows Dr. Christensen to discuss dental findings and treatment needs directly with you.

Dr. Christensen will perform an orthodontic screening to determine what orthodontic problem, if any, your child may have. He will briefly discuss these findings with you and answer your questions.

2. Records

After you and Dr. Christensen agree that there is a need for orthodontic treatment, a records appointment is scheduled. Orthodontic records are necessary for Dr. Christensen to carefully diagnose and plan treatment.

Records consist of radiographs (x-rays) of the head and jaw, models of the teeth and photographs of the face, profile and teeth. The records not only give Dr. Christensen information about how to treat the malocclusion, but serve as a record of where your child started before treatment.

3. Treatment Plan Presentation

During the treatment plan presentation, Dr. Christensen will sit down with you and your child to discuss the orthodontic problem, the different treatment alternatives, and the length and cost of treatment. This is an open discussion and your questions are an important part of the presentation.

4. Treatment

Finally, treatment begins! Dr. Christensen will place orthodontic appliances on the teeth. These appointments are longer in  duration and are scheduled in the late mornings and early afternoons. After the appliances have been placed, your child will visit the office in four to eight week intervals for examinations and adjustments.

Our office works very closely with you to keep your children in school. However, there are certain times when we may need to schedule your child for an apointment during school hours.  We will work with you to keep school time appointments to a minimum.
